Retired headteacher Sue takes her registered Pets As Therapy dog, Boo, to St Catherine’s Primary School 3 times a week for well-being sessions with pupils.
“The Community Transport drivers who get us to and from school are brilliant. They’re friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable about the best routes (in spite of the ever-changing roadworks). Without them and the very helpful administration team who organise all the timetables, Boo and I would not be able to provide our voluntary service to the school.”
I have driven a minibus two days per week for the last six years for Community Transport and more recently became their Treasurer and a Trustee. My commitment to Community Transport is driven by the satisfaction I get from playing a small part in the provision of a valuable service to members of the public who are in the greatest need of transport at a reasonable cost, who otherwise would have great difficulty in getting on with their daily lives. It helps that I like to drive but also, I get to meet a lot of interesting people who clearly appreciate what we do.
I would just like to say how surprised and pleased my wife and I were at the service you provide, first time users, last Wednesday 22nd Feb, we were picked up by Gerry to go to Worcester Hospital. He was about 10 minutes early and got us there in plenty of time, also arranged to pick us up afterwards to return us home which turned out to be about two hours later, again he was there when he said he would be. Gerry is such a nice friendly person, just what we wanted for this sort of trip. It was great to have a chat with someone friendly whilst travelling, he made us feel more like friends than customers. I would like to highly recommend Gerry and the service that you provide.
I would like to thank your team volunteers for all the help you have given me over the last nearly nine years for lifts to the Stroke Club every fortnight, plus many shopping trips.
All your volunteers have always been very helpful and patient.
When you are in a wheelchair permanently, like I am, it is a comfort to know there is a service like the Community Transport available.
Hopefully, you will be able to continue running this service for me and many others in the future.
I enjoy being a Community Transport driver because: I enjoy driving, safely, I hope! I enjoy meeting new people. This human race is so infinitively varied! I have lived in Kidderminster for over 40 years but never realised there were so many ‘care’ facilities in Wyre Forest, each offering a different service to benefit the wide variety of needs.
